HYDERBAD, India 2005!
What an intense trip and total immersion into a different world of culture and senses! We were there for about 2-1/2 weeks, July 6th-22nd. With us, we brought suitcases full of supplies -- clothes, coloring books, toys, over-the-counter drugs like Tylenol and Pepto-Bismo, toothpaste, and such. Our mission was to model God's love for the outcast in serving an AIDS orphanage in Hyderabad, headed up by a fellow Vineyard Metrowest member, Lynn Guhman Voggu, who was born and raised in Massachusetts and was called ot leave her career as a successful stockbroker in 2001 to set up her first orphanage in Vijayawada, India, in connection with the non-profit organization Agape International (visit www,agapeintl.org). She is now a permanent resident in Hyerabad and is married to a doctor from that region. God has also provided her with a "Hospital on Wheels," that travels into rural villages with medical needs but do not have the resources or knowledge of treatment for illnesses, such as diarrhea, that sadly often end up to be fatal.
